The Financial, Economic and Investment Affairs Committee is preparing to… Senate To hold a series of meetings next week to discuss a number of important economic and legislative files, foremost of which is completing the discussion of the draft law on protecting competition and preventing monopolistic practices, in the presence of representatives of the government and concerned authorities.

Protecting the market and ensuring equal opportunities

The meetings will be held within the agenda of the specific committees in the Senate during the period from Sunday, March 8, until Thursday, March 12, 2026, within the framework of the first regular session of the second legislative term. During these meetings, the committee continues to review the provisions of the draft law, which aims to strengthen market protection mechanisms and ensure equal opportunities between different economic entities, which contributes to reducing monopolistic practices and encouraging investment.

Listen to the government’s vision

The committee is scheduled to discuss it MThe various draft law, in addition to listening to the government’s vision regarding the proposed amendments, and discussing the legislative goals that the law seeks to achieve, especially with regard to promoting fair competition within the Egyptian market and achieving a balance between consumer protection and supporting economic activity.

The committee’s agenda also includes a joint meeting with the Office of the Constitutional and Legislative Affairs Committee, to discuss the study of the legislative impact of Investment Law No. 72 of 2017, at twelve o’clock in the afternoon, in the presence of government representatives, with the aim of assessing the extent of the law’s effectiveness in attracting investments and improving the business climate over the past years.
