Xiaomi is expected to replace two of its sub-flagship smartphones much sooner than previously expected. Thanks to larger batteries and advanced chipsets, the pair could replace Xiaomi’s current offerings in just a few months. The Xiaomi 17T and Xiaomi 17T Pro will deviate from Xiaomi’s usual release schedules in other ways as well.

A lot is already known about the upcoming global versions of Xiaomi’s sub-flagship smartphones. In short, recent code changes have revealed the battery and camera details of the Xiaomi 17T. Now, the famous leaker ExperienceMore has given his opinion on the state of the Xiaomi 17T series as a whole.

Previously, Xiaomi based the Pro version of its T series smartphones on the Redmi K Extreme or Ultra versions. For example, the Xiaomi 15T Pro (currently available for $825 on Amazon) shares its basic specifications with the Redmi K80 Ultra. According to ExperienceMore, this is not the case with the Xiaomi 17T Pro.

Instead, they confirm that the Xiaomi 17T Pro and Redmi K90 Ultra are two different smartphones. In a post on Weibo, ExperienceMore expects the Xiaomi 17T Pro and Xiaomi 17T to be four months ahead of the previous generation. Therefore, we may see the Xiaomi 17T series make its global debut in mid or late May 2026 instead of September 2026.

Currently, Xiaomi is believed to have designed the Xiaomi 17T around the Dimensity 8500 processor. Paired with a 6,500mAh battery that supports 67W charging, the Xiaomi 17T will fully pack its predecessor’s cameras. Meanwhile, the Xiaomi 17T Pro is supposed to benefit from MediaTek’s more powerful Dimensity 9500 platform.
