Dr. received. Badr Abdel Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptians Abroad, on Sunday, March 1, Abdel Aziz El Molla, Executive Director of the Arab Countries Group at the World Bank, and Ambassador Hisham Seif El-Din, Alternate Executive Director of the World Bank Group, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between Egypt and the World Bank on the sidelines of the visit of the President of the World Bank to Egypt.
The meeting discussed aspects of existing cooperation between Egypt and the World Bank and joint efforts to support economic and social development programs, especially in the areas of economic reform, empowering the private sector, supporting small and medium enterprises, and promoting green transformation and digital transformation.
Minister Abdel-Ati expressed the importance of the role played by the World Bank in supporting development efforts, praising the existing coordination that contributes to supporting the Arab countries’ development priorities within the corridors of the Bank, especially in light of the extremely difficult circumstances that the region is going through.
The Minister also reviewed the priorities of the Egyptian state at the current stage, especially with regard to attracting investments, enhancing the competitiveness of the Egyptian economy, and supporting efforts to achieve sustainable development, expressing his aspiration to continue the constructive partnership with the World Bank during the coming period.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs also stressed Egypt’s keenness to continue supporting the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, enhance reconstruction efforts and provide basic needs, stressing the importance of coordination with the World Bank and international institutions to support development and relief projects in the Strip in a way that contributes to improving living conditions and enhancing stability.
For his part, the bank representative expressed his appreciation for the close cooperation with Egypt, praising the pioneering role played by the Egyptian state in supporting security and stability, stressing the keenness to support development efforts in Egypt and the region, and working to advance its priorities within the World Bank.
