A leaker shared the release plans for Qualcomm Snapdragon SM8950 and SM8975 processors. They will allegedly arrive as Elite Gen 6 and Elite Gen 6 Pro versions, with it likely that only the latter will support LPDDR6 RAM. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro may be excluded from cheaper and smaller flagship phones like the Xiaomi 18 as well.

According to new reports, Qualcomm will split its flagship chipsets this year in response to rising component costs. Specifically, several Chinese leakers are now claiming that Qualcomm is preparing to introduce two versions of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 platform later this year to succeed devices like the Poco F8 Ultra and OnePlus 15 (currently priced at $899.99 on Amazon).

In a post on Weibo, the leaker Digital Chat Station confirms that Qualcomm will announce new flagship chipsets during the month of September, just like the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in September 2025. Unlike last year, Qualcomm is expected to introduce two Elite-branded chipsets, with the SM8950 and SM8975 said to be under development as the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro respectively.

Furthermore, the leaker claims that the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro will be the only one between the two to feature LPDDR6 memory, maximum cache, and a full-capacity GPU. Xiaomi’s 18 smartphones are also expected to feature both the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro. Currently, Digital Chat Station expects the Xiaomi 18 standard to be the only model to benefit from the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 processor.
