In two statements issued on December 16, Facebook, which owns the Instagram platform, revealed that there will be new verification tools that will be launched soon to verify the things that are published on its platform, and that they will be rolled out around the world soon to evaluate and classify information on the Instagram platform.

Facebook said: When content is classified as false or partially false, we will reduce its distribution and spread by removing it from Explore and Hashtag pages.

Combating fake and false news

Instagram also uses image matching technology to find content that has been shared by someone to try to stop the spread of misinformation once it is identified, and this feature will also work across the Facebook and Instagram platforms in the near future.

A new “hate speech” verification tool was also announced in the Instagram application. This new feature will notify people who add drawings or writings to photos or video clips. The new tool will directly classify them as offensive statements before publishing, and will allow publishers to review and modify them and then publish them later.

Fighting bullying on Instagram

Instagram says that it has tested artificial intelligence tools that would identify bullying in its application, and this feature was previously tested on offensive comments, and this test produced “wonderful” results.

Today, when someone writes a comment on a post, artificial intelligence detects that these comments may be offensive, and then these tools will immediately send notifications to the authors of these comments, informing them that this label or text is offensive. The commenter will have the opportunity to modify the label before or after it is published.

Note that the anti-bullying feature will be launched in selected countries initially, and then expansion to various other countries will begin in the coming months.
