Google has launched a new version of ChromeOS under the Long Term Support Candidate channel, starting to provide the LTC-144 version for most devices, with build number 144.0.7559.247 and platform 16503.79.0.
In contrast, the main LTS channel continues to run on version 138 until April 21, 2026, which means that the current update remains limited to the LTC channel only, and is not a general stable release for all users.
In this system, Google relies on a slower update pace compared to the stable channel, as devices receive feature updates semi-annually, while security updates continue to arrive on a regular basis.

On the other hand, this step paves the way for the full transition to the LTS 144 version, which is expected to be officially launched on April 21, after the current testing phase.
Although there are few details in the launch announcement, general feedback indicates improvements that include educational features such as wireless screen sharing, support for multiple applications, along with updates to the browser level and corporate policies.
