Google is making changes to product searches and shopping through the popular search engine Google that will make it easier for customers to shop safely from local stores. Google is working to update the shopping search results and make them more convenient for customers to find ways to choose products locally.

As the pandemic continues, Google aims to combine the safety of online shopping with the immediacy of in-store purchases. Google notes that searches and “safe shopping” have increased tenfold in the past few months.

When it comes to shopping in person these days, customers have many questions that aren’t always easy to find answers to. like:

Which stores have reopened?
Do they have the item I want in stock?
Do they offer any services to reduce contact and time in store for shoppers?
In an effort to answer these questions, Google is making a number of improvements to its shopping search results.

Therefore, Google has designed a set of changes to help customers shop at nearby businesses easily and safely through the following:

Filter by local availability

When searching for specific types of products, users can now filter results to show only what is available near them.

After searching for a product, click on the Shopping tab and then select the “Nearby” filter.

Google search changes make in-store shopping easier

Alternatively, users can append the word “near me” to their search to automatically filter results according to what’s available nearby.

“Do you want to see an item in person before purchasing, or can’t wait for shipping and delivery?

Whatever you’re looking for, whether it’s a new laptop for working from home, a kids’ jacket or a grill for a barbecue, Google makes it easy to see what’s available locally.”

Comparison shopping

Comparison shoppers can easily shop from local retailers without leaving their homes, as Google makes it easier to compare local retailers by previewing items in stock that match what the user is searching for.

When you search for “(product name) near me,” Google will display a library containing images and prices of available products.

Google Search changes make in-store shopping easier, and in addition, users can check the opening and closing hours of each business, as well as check their distance.

Local pickup made easy

Google aims to connect shoppers to in-store pickup options in a way that also emphasizes safety, with social distancing the priority right now, and Google is making it easier to see which stores are offering ways to reduce contact.

Google also introduces tags in shopping searches that indicate whether stores offer in-store delivery.

If an item is urgently needed and there is concern that it may run out, a Google Notes user can tap to call and speak with someone to confirm stock availability. Additionally, there is a direct link to map navigation that helps users get to the store quickly.

These updates are now being rolled out to Google search results for shopping in the next few days.
