Some Windows 11 users reported system freezes, freezes, and frequent restarts after installing the March 2026 cumulative update KB5079473, intended for 24H2 and 25H2 builds. However, Microsoft’s official support page still states that “there are currently no known issues with this update.”
The first complaints appeared on Microsoft support forums, where one user stated that the update caused his device to crash three times in a row, forcing him to restart and lose unsaved data.
Other users reported screen freezes while using Zoom, automatic reboots every 10-20 minutes, and a blue screen of death with error code ATTEMPTED_WRITE_TO_READONLY_MEMORY (0xBE). Others also complained that the Office, Outlook, and Command Prompt applications stopped working, in addition to problems installing the update itself.
Despite these reports, Microsoft focuses in describing the update on improvements such as secure targeting data for Secure Boot certificates, improved File Explorer search reliability, WDAC COM behavior, and improved trust warnings in Windows System Image Manager, without citing any user issues.

Community sources like Reddit report additional issues including difficulties accessing disks on some Samsung Galaxy Book devices, graphical issues, and GPU-based app crashes on some Dell Precision devices, though these complaints have not been officially confirmed.
Microsoft confirms that using the Feedback Hub helps the company track these problems quickly, as users can report problems, add explanations or screenshots, which makes it easier for Microsoft to assess the need to officially acknowledge and address the problem.
