An official source at the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources revealed its continued strategic importance For Zohr field In supporting natural gas production in Egypt, stressing that it is one of the main pillars as it contributes to 25% of the total domestic production.

The source explained, in exclusive statements to Cairo 24, that the Zohr field maintains its position as one of the most prominent and largest gas fields in the country, which contributes mainly to securing the local market’s needs for natural gas, in addition to supporting the state’s plans to achieve stability in the energy sector.
He pointed out that the field continues its strong production performance, despite the challenges facing the energy sector globally, which reflects the efficiency of operations and development.
It is worth noting that Engineer Tharwat El Gendy, President of Petro Shorouk Company, revealed during the General Assembly of Petro Shorouk Company, in the presence of Minister of Petroleum Karim Badawi, that additional investments worth $77 million would be pumped during the current fiscal year 2025/2026, within the framework of intensifying Zohr field development activities, continuing well maintenance work, and improving operating efficiency.
He added in a statement by the Ministry that the proposed budget for the fiscal year 2026/2027 amounts to $524 million, and focuses on continuing development and operation work in the field, while implementing vital projects to develop the infrastructure in the field and raise the efficiency of operating production wells.
He explained that the capacity of the Dahr Al Bareya station will be increased, and the marine processing project will be launched through the floating processing unit (FPU), to develop the produced gas processing system, support production sustainability, and raise operating efficiency.
