The General Authority of Meteorology revealed details of the case the weather Today in Egypt, Saturday, March 14, 2026, indicating the continuation of weather fluctuations in most parts, as winds stir up sand and dust, leading to a noticeable decrease in the level of horizontal visibility, especially in areas of Greater Cairo, North Upper Egypt, and Sinai.
Today’s weather
The General Authority of Meteorology explained that today’s weather conditions in Cairo record a horizontal visibility of about 2,000 meters as a result of dust-laden wind activity.
Meteorology confirmed that the country is affected by the proliferation of low and medium rain clouds over areas of the northwestern coast, with continued cloud cover over areas of Lower Egypt, Greater Cairo, northern and central Upper Egypt, Sinai, and parts of the Red Sea Governorate, which increases the chances of rain falling at intermittent intervals.
Rain falling
It indicated that there are chances of moderate rain, which may be heavy and thundery at times, on areas of the northern coast, northern Lower Egypt, and the Gulf of Suez, and may reach the point of torrential rain in some areas of Sinai.
There are also chances of light rain in areas of Greater Cairo, the Canal Cities, northern and central Upper Egypt, the Red Sea mountain ranges, and the Western Desert, and it may turn to moderate at times with an incidence rate approaching 30%.
The weather condition is also accompanied by noticeable wind activity, ranging in speed between 40 and 50 km per hour, causing sand and dust, especially in areas of the Western Desert, the south of the country, Greater Cairo, the Canal Cities, Sinai, and parts of the Red Sea Governorate, which may lead to a deterioration in horizontal visibility to less than 1,000 meters in some areas.
Severe marine weather disturbance
Regarding the case of Bahrain, meteorology warned of disruption to maritime navigation on some areas of the Mediterranean coast, where wind speeds range between 50 and 70 km per hour, with waves rising from 2.5 to 3.5 metres. Areas of the coasts of the Red Sea and the Gulf of Suez are also witnessing disruption to maritime navigation as a result of wind activity whose speed ranges between 40 and 60 km per hour.
The Authority appealed to citizens to be careful during these unstable conditions, and to avoid being under trees or near billboards and dilapidated buildings, in addition to driving with caution on the roads due to low horizontal visibility.
It also warned of the possibility of thunderbolts and strong downward winds accompanying thunderclouds, with an incidence rate of up to 30% in some areas, stressing the need to follow up on weather forecast updates.
