Today, the Shebin El-Kom Criminal Court in Menoufia Governorate is considering the trial of the accused of killing 3 young children in the village of Al-Raheb in the Shebin El-Kom District District, in a case that sparked a widespread state of anger and sadness among the people of the governorate during the recent period.

In the last session, the court decided to refer the accused’s papers to His Eminence the Mufti, to obtain a legal opinion on his execution, and set the fourth session of this March to pronounce His Eminence the Mufti’s opinion, after completing the pleadings and hearing the statements of the defense and prosecution.

Case details

The details of the incident were received by the security services in the governorate Menoufia A notification reported that the bodies of 3 children were found inside an abandoned house in the village of Al Raheb, where they were taken to the hospital at the disposal of the investigating authorities. Through examination and investigation, it was revealed that their father’s friend was involved in committing the incident. He was arrested, the necessary legal measures were taken against him, and he was referred to criminal trial.

During the last trial session, the victims’ lawyer asked the court to impose the maximum penalty on the accused, stressing that the incident represented a heinous crime that shook everyone’s feelings. On the other hand, the defendant’s lawyer argued that he was mentally unstable, and demanded that his client be referred to psychiatry to show the extent of his criminal responsibility for committing the crime.

The last session also witnessed a surprise, as the accused claimed that there was an illicit relationship between him and the victims’ father, in confessions that sparked widespread controversy, while the accused’s family was absent from attending the first trial session due to his mother being ill, according to what his brother stated.
