Israel decided to penetrate Lebanon to a depth of 8 kilometers, and remain there to secure the northern border, as the occupation army seeks to deploy in 18 locations in the new area, according to what Hebrew media reported.

The border between Lebanon and Israel

The Hebrew Channel 14 revealed that during the discussions that took place during recent weeks regarding the northern front, the political echelon insisted on its position on the necessity of maintaining full control up to the Litani River, and the political echelon wants complete ground control for the Israeli army up to the third village line.

She added that at first, the military level opposed this position, but was later convinced that it was more appropriate for Israel to advance the border line by at least 8 kilometers, and to control up to the Litani River, and even beyond it in some areas.

She stated that the strategic decision has been taken and will radically change the security reality on the northern border, as the operational defense line of the Israeli army will be moved deep into Lebanese territory, at least 8 kilometers from the international border, including remaining for a long period in these areas unless Hezbollah is completely and completely disarmed.

Channel 14 explained that, as part of this preparation, the army is currently establishing 18 new advanced sites, some of which are located deep in the area and not near the fence, with the aim of consolidating its presence there and preventing any attempt to reorganize the infrastructure near the settlements.

She continued that the army is preparing for a radical change in the structure of the forces, as it plans to keep two strong divisions on the northern border even after the end of the fierce fighting, while this aims to ensure an immediate response to any threat. The political leadership has shown great determination to support this plan, and after lengthy discussions during which military officials raised some doubts, the army was convinced that this is the only way to guarantee sustainable security for the people of the north.
