Tharwat Sweilem, a member of the Egyptian Professional Clubs Association, denied rumors about merging popular clubs such as Al-Ismaily and Al-Mahalla, stressing that there is thinking about other solutions.
Tharwat Swailem’s statements
Tharwat Swailem said in television statements: There will be no merger between the clubs, and will Ismaili fans accept a merger with another club? But there are other solutions such as establishing a football company in clubs.
Tharwat Swailem added: There is no cancellation of relegation from the Premier League this season under any circumstances, and we canceled the relegation in the league for the sake of Ismaili, but we will not cancel the relegation for the sake of Ismaili again, and if they are relegated, they will not return.
Tharwat Swailem continued: We agreed to Hossam Hassan’s request to advance the end date of the league in order to preserve the Egyptian national team’s preparation period for the 2026 World Cup.
Tharwat Sweilem concluded: I agree with Hossam Hassan in his desire to reduce the number of professional players from 5 to 3 players, but the decision is not individual, it is the decision of the Football Association and the clubs.
Earlier, Tharwat Sweilem, a member of the Egyptian Clubs Association Council, announced his apology to the Pyramids Club, officials and Egyptian football fans after his recent media statements regarding the crisis of last season’s Egyptian Premier League champion.
Tharwat Swailem had stated during a podcast that last season’s league ended in favor of Al-Ahly, saying: After the Eid, Kahk will not be inspected, indicating that matters were settled without waiting for the ruling of the International Sports Court in the case brought by the Pyramids Club.
