Mohamed Abdel Latif, Minister of Education and Technical Education, held an expanded meeting with Dr. Hemat Abu Kaila, Director of the Directorate of Education in Cairo Governorate, the directors of the Directorate, and the directors of educational departments, within the framework of continuous follow-up of the progress of the educational process, identifying field challenges, and discussing ways to improve the quality of education within the capital’s schools.

This meeting comes in light of Minister Mohamed Abdel Latif’s keenness to enhance direct communication with educational leaders in the governorates, and to activate follow-up and evaluation mechanisms, which contributes to achieving discipline within schools, and ensuring the provision of distinguished educational service to students.

At the beginning of the meeting, Abdul Latif stressed that developing the educational system is a shared responsibility that requires the solidarity of all leaders and workers in the educational field, stressing the importance of the pivotal role played by the education directorates and educational departments in implementing the ministry’s policies on the ground.

He stressed that the Ministry aims, by the year 2027, to end the evening shift system in schools, noting the existence of an integrated plan implemented by the Educational Buildings Authority to expand the establishment and development of schools, in a way that contributes to addressing student densities, according to the needs of each school and educational administration and in accordance with the educational reality.

The Minister also discussed with the leaders and directors of educational departments in Cairo ways to work on finding appropriate solutions to the problem of the evening shift, by reorganizing the distribution of students and exploiting the capabilities available in schools, in a way that contributes to improving the learning environment.

The Minister directed the preparation of an accurate inventory of the numbers of students expected to enroll in the first grade of primary school for the next academic year, in addition to reviewing the current and expected numbers for the current and next years, while preparing a comprehensive study that includes scenarios and practical solutions to efficiently accommodate these numbers.

In a related context, the Minister stressed the importance of raising the efficiency of the school environment, directing the continuation of the interior painting of the classrooms, the continuous maintenance of the disks, with an emphasis on maintaining the cleanliness and readiness of the classrooms, and the commitment to implement the school discipline regulations with the utmost decisiveness, in order to achieve a safe and stimulating educational environment for students.

In the context of keenness to improve the quality of the educational process and discipline within schools, the Minister issued a number of decisive instructions aimed at achieving the student’s interest and enhancing the educational environment. The Minister stressed the importance of students’ regular attendance at schools, stressing the activation of grades for the year’s work and linking them to the percentage of attendance and absence, in a way that achieves discipline and directly benefits the level of student achievement. He also directed the importance of paying attention to teaching religious education.

The Minister also stressed the need to commit to teaching national identity subjects (Arabic language, religious education, and social studies) in international schools, with an emphasis on conducting correction work with the utmost transparency and accuracy, ensuring that every student obtains his full right.

The Minister also stressed that no exemptions from studying the Arabic language may be granted except through a specialized committee formed in the Ministry, in accordance with specific controls and procedures that guarantee the achievement of justice and equal opportunities.

With regard to school administration, the Minister stressed that the school principal is the leader and the primary responsible for achieving discipline, directing the necessity of continuous field follow-up of education leaders, reviewing grade books, and attending classes, in order to ensure the smooth conduct of the educational process within the classroom.

The Minister also directed the need for students to adhere to school uniforms and pay attention to their general appearance, while implementing behavioral controls strictly, stressing that any violation of public appearance is unacceptable, and will be dealt with in accordance with the school motivation and discipline regulations, in a way that consolidates the values ​​of commitment and discipline within the school community, indicating that these measures come within the framework of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to achieve a disciplined and stimulating educational environment that supports the quality of education and puts the student’s interest first.

The Minister pointed out the need to fully adhere to the controls of the educational process and achieve discipline within schools, while working to create an attractive and motivating educational environment for students.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Ahmed Daher, Deputy Minister, Dr. Ahmed Al-Mohammadi, Assistant Minister for Strategic Planning and Follow-up and Supervisor of the Central Administration for the Affairs of the Minister’s Office, Major General Yousry Salem, Assistant Minister for Educational Buildings Authority Affairs, Professor Khaled Abdel Hakam, Advisor to the Minister for Examination Affairs and Supervisor of the Central Administration for Examinations, Dr. Hala Abdel Salam, Head of the Central Administration for Public Education, and Professor Ali Abdel Raouf, Head of the Central Administration for Educational Directorates Affairs.
