Chocolate and gift shops in Dakahlia Governorate witnessed a significant demand from people to buy chocolate of various kinds, coinciding with the approaching Eid al-Fitr, as many are keen to give it as gifts during family visits and Eid gatherings.

A number of shop owners told Cairo 24 that chocolate prices vary according to type, size, and brand, explaining that prices start at about 80 pounds for small pieces or boxes, while the prices of medium boxes range between 150 and 300 pounds, while the prices of some large or imported boxes reach 500 pounds.

The merchants added that chocolate has become one of the favorite gifts for many families during Eid al-Fitr, especially for children, as families are keen to buy it alongside cakes and biscuits to create an atmosphere of joy during the Eid days.

They pointed out that the stores were keen to provide different types and sizes of chocolate to suit different categories, ranging from small boxes at economical prices to larger boxes at higher prices, stressing that demand usually increases as Eid approaches.

A number of families explained that chocolate is one of the simple gifts that bring happiness to children and adults during Eid visits, pointing out that they choose the boxes that suit their budget in light of the variety of prices in the markets.
