The Damanhour Criminal Court, Circuit 15, headed by Counselor Imad al-Din Hamdi Abdel Aziz Qandil, and with the membership of Counselors Sherif Reda Rushdi Salah al-Din, Ahmed Kazem Salam Zanati, and Mahmoud Ibrahim al-Arabi Abdel Moneim, decided to postpone the trial of 26 accused of killing two people as they left a wedding party in July 2025, for the next May 3 pleading session.
The trial of 26 accused of killing two people while leaving a wedding party was postponed
At the beginning of the session, the defendants denied to the court panel that they had committed the incident, and today, in the first session of the defendants’ trial, the court heard the requests of the lawyers of the defendants and the victims.
Counselor Hashem Ibrahim Hashem, Attorney General of the South Damanhour Public Prosecution, decided to refer 26 defendants to the Criminal Court, to accuse them of a horrific murder in one of the villages of the Dalingat Police Station in Beheira Governorate, the events of which date back to July 2025.
The prosecution’s investigations revealed that the first to the tenth defendants were determined and intended to get rid of the two victims. Investigations indicated that the motive behind the crime was revenge following a previous revenge dispute between the two parties.
The perpetrators prepared loaded firearms, automatic rifles, drums, and knives, and sought the help of the ninth defendant to monitor the movements of the two victims. Immediately upon receiving the signal that they had passed, the defendants attacked them with a barrage of bullets in the place from which they were certain they had passed, which led to their immediate death as a result of their injuries described in the autopsy report.
The fifth to eighth defendants also participated in supporting the perpetrators at the scene of the incident, while the tenth defendant secured the escape route.
The prosecution charged the defendants from the eleventh to the twenty-sixth with participation in incitement, agreement, and assistance, as they provided the necessary financial support to purchase the weapons and ammunition used in the attack.
