The Egyptian market witnessed the return of the overpriced phenomenon on some models, especially after a wave of rise Car prices The last.

The return of the offer on specific models in Egypt

Montaser Zaitoun, a member of the Board of Directors of the Automotive Division, explained that the price increase came after a series of declines during the years 2024 and 2025, which included most of the cars on the market, and some of the reductions exceeded half a million pounds.

Zaytoun added that the high demand versus the lack of supply led to an increase in the prices of some models and the return of discounts, while discounts and offers are expected to return with greater availability of cars and reduced demand.

He pointed out that the entry of 10 new production lines contributed to supporting production and creating a kind of competition, which led to a temporary decline in the prices of some brands, but it did not solve the problem of shortage of components, which is putting pressure on local factories producing parts.

He stressed that the production shortage continues for most brands, with the exception of only about two brands, and that the shortage in supply has prompted some models, such as the Nissan Sunny, to return to the overpriced phenomenon after they were sold at discounts before the outbreak of the American-Israeli war against Iran.

The overprice phenomenon is known as some distributors or dealers imposing an additional amount above the official price announced by the agent, in exchange for delivering the car faster or as a result of high demand compared to the size of the supply in the market.

GB Auto, one of the largest companies operating in the Egyptian market and the Middle East, recently announced an increase in the prices of 2026 model cars, with values ranging between 15 and 100 thousand pounds, in a move that reflects the impact of rising costs on companies’ profit margins.
