International star Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet succeeded in scoring the lead goal for Al-Ahly club in the 35th minute of the first half. The goal came after a perfect cross from his colleague Emam Ashour, which Trezeguet converted into the net, giving the advantage to the Red Giants before returning to the dressing room.

The events of the first half witnessed an early shock for Al-Ahly club. Full-back Karim Fouad was injured in the seventh minute, forcing the coach to make an emergency substitution with Ahmed Eid replacing him in the eighth minute.
