The Central Administration for Operating Control in the Railway Sector issued new instructions that include operating… Sleeping trains Additional measures will be made and temporary adjustments to operating schedules, within the framework of regulating travel and increasing capacity during peak periods.
These measures come with the aim of achieving streamlined passenger movement and meeting the increasing demand for Upper Egypt flights, while maintaining operating efficiency and avoiding congestion.
Operating additional sleeper trains
According to an official document, it was decided to operate sleeper train No. 1086 from Upper Egypt station to Aswan on April 20, 2026, where it departs at 7:53 pm and arrives in Aswan at 8:45 am the next day.
It was also decided to operate sleeper train No. 1087 in the reverse direction from Aswan to Upper Egypt on April 21, 2026, arriving at 8:15 pm and arriving in Upper Egypt at 9:25 am the next day.
Temporary suspension of some trains
On the other hand, it was decided to stop the operation of sleeper trains No. 84 and 85 (Cairo – Aswan and vice versa) during the days when the new trains are operating, with the aim of achieving balance in operation and preventing overcrowding.
The instructions stressed the commitment of Cairo, Upper Egypt, Alexandria and Aswan stations to install additional cars according to the specified schedules, provided that the installation of trains does not exceed a maximum of 16 cars for Upper Egypt trains.
