Dr. Hossam El-Din Fawzi received the Governor of Damietta, today, Thursday, at the Ministry’s headquarters in the new capital, as part of the periodic meetings that the Minister holds with the governors to follow up on the implementation of development plans in the governorates.

The Minister of Local Development and Environment follows up with the Governor of Damietta on implementing projects and improving services for citizens

During the meeting, the Minister of Local Development and Environment was keen to follow up on the implementation of the directives of the President of the Republic, during his meeting with the new governors and their deputies after taking the constitutional oath, as well as the assignments of the Prime Minister in the recent meetings of the Council of Governors, with regard to service files and improving the level of services provided to citizens.

The meeting also witnessed a follow-up of the executive position of the projects of the investment plan for Damietta Governorate for the current fiscal year 2025-2026 and the ongoing work and projects in various sectors to determine the actual implementation rates and push the pace of work on the listed projects to speed up their completion and implementation according to the specified schedules to achieve the maximum benefit from those projects, especially in the fields of electricity, paving, security, firefighting and improving the environment.

Dr. Manal Awad pointed out the Ministry’s keenness to improve the efficiency of infrastructure in all cities and centers of Damietta Governorate and to raise the level of services provided to the people of the governorate in the various service sectors that affect their lives on a daily basis.

Dr. Hossam El-Din Fawzi explained that the past period witnessed follow-up and field visits to a number of service projects and efforts to provide services to the people of the governorate in some sectors in order to make maximum efforts to improve the quality of services provided to the people of Damietta and to be present among the citizens to listen to their requests and work to quickly resolve them in coordination with all concerned parties and ministries.

The Minister of Local Development and Environment also followed the efforts of the executive agencies in the governorate with regard to monitoring the situation at gas stations and parking lots, to ensure the availability of funds, full compliance with the official prices and tariffs set for cars, confront any monopolistic practices or violations by drivers, and take the necessary legal measures.

The meeting also touched on reviewing the executive position of a number of ongoing development projects in Damietta Governorate, especially in the infrastructure sectors, improving the environment, and developing the solid waste management system, which contributes to improving the quality of life for citizens and supporting the state’s efforts to achieve sustainable development.

Dr. Manal Awad stressed the Ministry’s keenness to provide various aspects of support and continuous coordination with the governorate to accelerate the pace of implementation of development and service projects, noting the importance of continuing field follow-up and quickly dealing with any obstacles that may face the implementation of projects in order to achieve the maximum benefit for citizens.

Dr. Manal Awad also stressed the need to strengthen efforts to preserve the civilized appearance of the governorate and expand the implementation of projects to improve the environment and public hygiene, in addition to supporting local initiatives that contribute to raising the efficiency of services in centers, cities and villages.

The Governor of Damietta reviewed a number of efforts undertaken by the executive agencies in the governorate to improve the level of services provided to citizens, stressing continued coordination with the Ministry of Local Development and Environment to implement the directives of the political leadership and advance development efforts in the governorate in various economic and service sectors.

The meeting also touched on following up on the efforts of the executive agencies in Damietta Governorate regarding the system of legalizing state lands and reconciling building violations and spatial variables.

Dr. Manal Awad stressed the importance of decisively confronting any encroachments on agricultural lands and state lands, illegal construction, removal in the cradle, and taking legal measures in this regard.

At the conclusion of the meeting, it was agreed to continue coordination and cooperation between the Ministry and the governorate during the next phase to follow up on the implementation of ongoing projects and support local development plans to meet the needs of citizens in Damietta Governorate.
