Representative Khaled Abdel Mawla, Undersecretary of the Energy Committee, reviewed the report of the Energy and Environment Committee and the offices of the African Affairs and Arab Affairs Committees on Presidential Resolution No. 568 of 2025 regarding approval of the letter of understanding regarding the aid provided by the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development to contribute to financing an integrated feasibility study for the project to raise the capacity of the electrical interconnection line between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, at a value of 300 thousand Kuwaiti dinars.

He explained that this decision comes in the context of completing the process of bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the field of electric energy, a process that began since the establishment and operation of the existing electrical interconnection line in October 1998 with a capacity of 400 megawatts. This line has contributed over the past years to enhancing the stability of the two countries’ electrical networks, and has enabled the exchange of energy during peak and emergency periods, supporting energy security and reducing the risks of sudden outages, and that with the rapid developments the electricity sector is witnessing regionally, especially in the areas of renewable energy and the shift towards energy sources Clean energy: In addition to the growing regional demand for electricity, the need has emerged to raise the capacity of the existing interconnection line to a higher level, reaching about 2,000 megawatts.
