The General Authority of the Port received Alexandria Today, Tuesday, the giant ship WEN JING KOU (IMO registration number 9997555), which is one of the largest Ro-Ro ships operating with liquefied natural gas (LNG) in the world.

The Authority confirmed that the success of receiving this modern ship reflects the efficiency of the infrastructure of Alexandria Port, the development of the pilotage, tug and trawler system, as well as the readiness of the berths to receive ships of large tonnages and sizes, as well as specialized berths such as RORO berths, in a way that supports the port’s position as a pivotal center for international trade movement in the Mediterranean.

It was received by the leaders of Alexandria Port, led by Rear Admiral, Chairman of the Board of Directors, where the ship docked at Berth No. 9, one of the many berths specialized in handling RoRo goods in the port, where the trawling and insurance work was carried out in accordance with the highest technical and navigational standards, and under the direct supervision of the leadership of traffic and maritime services, and with the participation of the authority’s guides and pilotage tugs, in a way that ensures the safety of the ship and crew and operational efficiency.

The ship WEN JING KOU, which reaches a length of 200 meters and a draft of more than 9 meters, is characterized by advanced operational capabilities, as it belongs to the category of large-capacity car and truck transport ships (PCTC) with a capacity of up to 9,000 cars, and operates with a dual propulsion system based on liquefied natural gas, which contributes to reducing carbon emissions and adhering to international environmental standards issued by the International Maritime Organization, which is in line with the Egyptian state’s directions towards supporting green maritime transport and promoting sustainability. This event comes within the framework of the authority’s strategy to maximize the port’s competitiveness, attract international shipping lines, and enhance its ability to deal with the latest generations of specialized ships, thus contributing to supporting the national economy and raising the efficiency of supply chains.
