Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development and Environment, announced the start of the work of evacuating and moving the nursery housing seized cars, seized vehicles, and priests’ vehicles located at the entrance to the Wadi Degla Reserve in the Zahraa El Maadi area in Cairo Governorate.

The Minister of Local Development and Environment reviewed a report from Dr. Saeed Helmy Abdel Khaleq, Head of the Strategic Management and Local Development Sector, about the ongoing work that comes within an integrated executive plan to remove all unorganized aspects in the vicinity of the reserve, where coordination has been made with the Ministry of the Interior, the Public Prosecution, and the Cairo Governorate to provide the necessary support and pay for specialized equipment and cranes to lift and transport the seized items and vehicles to the Tabin Cars Cemetery, in accordance with the regulated legal procedures.
The report indicated that implementation is carried out through direct field follow-up by specialists in the strategic management and local development sector, ensuring adherence to the approved work plan, speed of completion, and achieving full discipline on site.
The report also explained that this step represents the first stage within a work program aimed at reorganizing and raising the efficiency of the entrance to the reserve, and improving the urban landscape, in a way that is commensurate with its environmental nature and limits any random manifestations.
For her part, the Minister of Local Development and Environment directed the necessity of continuing field follow-up and full coordination with the concerned authorities, while adhering to the specified timetable and speedy completion of the work, in order to ensure the restoration of the cultural appearance of the reserve and the preservation of its environmental value.
Dr. Manal Awad confirmed that these measures come within the framework of the state’s direction towards protecting natural resources and restoring discipline to areas of a special nature, which contributes to improving the quality of the environment and maximizing the benefit from reserves, in light of the goals of Egypt’s Vision 2030.
