
The Egyptian national team finished the first extra period against Benin, with two goals to one, in the round of 16 of the African Cup of Nations.
Yasser Ibrahim, the Egyptian national team player, succeeded in scoring the Pharaohs’ second goal against Benin in the 97th minute of the match in the first extra period.
The match between the Egyptian national team and Benin in the round of 16 of the 2025 African Cup of Nations ended in a positive draw 1-1, as the Egyptian national team took the lead first with a goal by Marwan Attia in the 69th minute, before the Benin national team equalized the score through Godel Dosso in the 83rd minute, forcing the two teams to resort to extra time.
The beginning of the match witnessed caution from both teams, with mutual attempts to reach the opponent’s goal with an early goal. The most notable event in the first minutes was Mohamed Salah’s chance in the 7th minute, which created a complete match for Omar Marmoush with the Beninese goalkeeper, but he missed it in a strange way.
In the 17th minute, the right wing of the Benin national team launched an attack on the Egyptian national team and dribbled past Mohamed Hamdi, while the Gabonese referee showed the yellow card in the face of Rami Rabia.
