Dr. Shadi Al-Mashdou, Deputy Governor of Beheira, received Dr. Osama Talaat, Head of the House of Books and National Archives, as part of preparations for signing a cooperation protocol between Beheira Governorate and the Ministry of Culture “House of Books and National Archives” during the next week, in preparation for the start of the actual implementation of the work to develop the municipal library in the Damanhour Cultural Complex, and transform it into an integrated cultural center worthy of its ancient history and distinguished status.
During the meeting, mechanisms for joint cooperation were reviewed, which include carrying out comprehensive restoration and maintenance work for the library, in addition to indexing and classifying its holdings of books, major works and manuscripts, as well as maps, rare catalogs and photo albums that include unique copies in the world, relying on the specialized expertise of the National Library and Archives, and in accordance with the latest scientific and technical systems.
It is also planned to implement an integrated plan to restore rare publications in various stages, in addition to organizing specialized training programs to raise the efficiency of library workers, ensuring the sustainability of development and making the most of the available capabilities.
The Deputy Governor and Head of Dar Al-Kutub made an inspection tour of the library’s corridors, where they reviewed the knowledge and cultural treasures it contains, and examined their current condition, in addition to inspecting the various halls to discuss ways to develop and equip them in an optimal way, in a way that contributes to preserving these holdings and maintaining them according to the highest standards.
For his part, Dr. Osama Talaat expressed his aspiration to enhance cooperation with Beheira Governorate in implementing a number of future cultural projects, stressing that the library development plan will be carried out according to well-studied stages that ensure the preservation of the documentary heritage and make it available to future generations.
Dr. Shadi Al-Mashad also praised this fruitful cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, stressing the governorate’s full support for the implementation of the project and its keenness to provide all the necessary capabilities for its success.
For her part, Dr. Jacqueline Azer, Governor of Beheira, stressed the governorate’s interest in developing the cultural infrastructure and enhancing the role of knowledge institutions in building humanity, pointing to moving forward with the project to revive and develop the municipal library in the Damanhour Cultural Complex, and transforming it into an integrated cultural center befitting its ancient history and distinguished status.
