Health experts have warned of the Coronavirus, after revealing the presence of a new mutant known as the cicada virus, as it is spreading at an alarming rate in the United States of America. The infection has been monitored in 25 states so far, and it is likely to spread further. What is worrying is that current vaccines do not provide protection against this new mutant. The BA.3.2 strain, or what is known as the cicada strain of the Covid-19 virus, was detected for the first time in South Africa in 2024, and this strain is currently making headlines because it is spreading at an alarming rate in the United States, and experts confirm that the current Covid-19 vaccines provide protection against the JN strains of the Omicron strain, and the most prominent symptoms are:
sore throat
During this time of year, as the weather changes, a sore throat is more likely to occur, but it may also be a sign of infection with the cicada strain of the coronavirus.
Dry cough
This type of cough does not produce any phlegm and is usually the result of environmental irritants, but it is also an early sign of infection with this new type of coronavirus.
Fever and chills
The new strain of Coronavirus is worrying, especially since many of its symptoms are similar to those of older strains, including fever and chills.
Body pain
Fatigue, body aches and headaches are some other common symptoms of the cicada-like strain of COVID-19, which can be mistaken for other minor health problems.
