According to the Spanish newspaper AS, the Moroccan Football Federation has been negotiating for several months with Andres Iniesta to include him as the new sporting director, as Iniesta attended the final match in Rabat as a guest of King Mohammed VI, and although everyone expected him to be announced simultaneously with the new coach, the failure to reach a final agreement is delaying this step.
She indicated that the Spanish star would be the ideal choice for management in preparation for the next session, in which Morocco will host the World Cup jointly with Spain and Portugal.
The newspaper revealed a major surprise when it stated that with Iniesta at the head of the technical staff, it is very likely that another Spaniard will join the Moroccan national team, this time as coach, namely Xavi Hernandez, but he intends to start a completely new project, and not three months before the World Cup with an almost complete squad by the former coach.
Morocco is witnessing radical changes following its defeat in the last African Cup of Nations, and before the start of the World Cup, as the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, on Thursday, appointed Mohamed Wehbe, the coach of the under-20 team with whom he won the World Cup, as the new coach of the first team, succeeding Walid Regragui.
