Within the framework of continuous cooperation between the two sides, it was held Fatwa House Egyptian and the General Fatwa Department in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, their third meeting via video conference technology, in the presence of Dr. Nazir Muhammad Ayyad, the Grand Mufti of Egypt and Head of the General Secretariat for the role and fatwa bodies in the world, and His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Hasanat, the General Mufti of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and a number of leaders, scholars, forensic and astronomical specialists in the two institutions; To discuss ways to enhance joint coordination in Sharia issues of public interest, most notably the issue of sighting the crescent of the blessed month of Shawwal for the year 1447 AH.

The meeting dealt with a detailed presentation of the procedures followed in observing the crescent moon in the two countries, and the scientific and technical development they are witnessing, in addition to reviewing the results of astronomical calculations related to the birth of the crescent and the possibility of its sighting, within a framework of integration between scientific data and established legal controls, including a determination that astronomical calculations can be used to prove the beginning of the month, according to what scholars have settled on.

The two sides also confirmed that the competent scientific and legal committees in the two countries will be deployed in various locations on the evening of Thursday, 3/19/2026 AD, corresponding to the 29th of Ramadan 1447 AH, to detect the crescent of Shawwal, in an atmosphere of precision and discipline, which reflects the keenness of the two institutions to achieve the highest degree of certainty in announcing the beginning of the month, stressing the importance of continuing fruitful coordination between the houses and fatwa bodies in the Islamic world, because of its profound impact. In unifying visions, enhancing confidence in religious institutions, and serving the nation’s issues, especially on occasions and rituals related to the unity of Muslims and the coming together of their word.
