The official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic stated that the call dealt with the latest developments in the regional and international situation, where the President stressed the need to reduce the current escalation in the Middle East region, reviewing the efforts made by Egypt to reduce tension and maintain regional security, in coordination with a number of regional partners, in order to avoid the region from the risk of sliding into a state of chaos, noting that Russia, with its weight and capabilities at the international level, is capable of influencing the direction of stopping the war. The President also stressed Egypt’s full support for the security of the sisterly Arab countries, and its complete rejection. To undermine its stability and sovereignty under any pretext, stressing that the security of Arab countries is an extension of Egyptian national security.

Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, the official spokesman, indicated that the two presidents discussed ways to restore regional stability, especially in light of the negative economic effects of the current war and its repercussions on regional and international security and stability. For his part, the Russian President appreciated the efforts made by Egypt to strengthen regional security and reduce tension in the region, expressing his aspiration to contain the current escalation and achieve calm.

The official spokesman stated that the two presidents discussed a number of other regional issues, most notably the developments in the situation in the occupied Palestinian territory, where Mr. President stressed the priority given by Egypt to continue implementing the agreement to stop the war in the Gaza Strip, including enhancing the flow of humanitarian aid to the Strip in sufficient quantities without restrictions, quickly starting the process of rebuilding the Strip, and working to revive a political process that leads to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the lines of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the resolutions of international legitimacy and the two-state solution, considering that This is the only way to achieve lasting stability in the region. In this context, Mr. President stressed Egypt’s keenness to continue coordination with the Russian side to achieve a just and comprehensive settlement of the Palestinian issue. For his part, President Putin welcomed continued consultation and coordination with Egypt in this regard.

The official spokesman indicated that the two presidents discussed developments in the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, where Mr. President affirmed Egypt’s support for the efforts aimed at settling it politically, and expressed Egypt’s readiness to provide support in this framework, which the Russian president appreciated.

The official spokesman added that the call also touched on the strategic partnership relations between Egypt and Russia and ways to develop them in various fields, especially political, commercial and investment, as well as in the field of tourism. Mr. President stressed Egypt’s keenness to advance close relations with the Russian side in a way that achieves the interests of the two friendly countries and peoples. For his part, the Russian President expressed his appreciation for the current position of bilateral relations between the two countries, stressing his agreement with what Mr. President said about the need to continue working to advance them in a number of areas. In this context, the current position of strategic cooperation projects between Egypt and Russia in a number of sectors was discussed, including the Dabaa nuclear power plant project, and the project to establish the Russian industrial zone in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, in addition to the fruitful cooperation between the two countries in the fields of energy, tourism, and the food sector.
