Dr. Badr Abdel Ati, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptians Abroad, met with Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, during a stopover on his trip in Doha on his way to the Pakistani capital, Islamabad.

Qatar praises Egypt’s steadfast nationalist stances towards supporting its brothers and its mediation efforts to calm the situation between Iran and America

According to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during the meeting, Abdel Aty affirmed Egypt’s solidarity and full support with the State of Qatar and the rest of the sisterly Gulf countries in this delicate circumstance, reiterating Egypt’s full condemnation of the ongoing attacks targeting sister countries, and stressing Egypt’s full support for its brothers in this context.

For his part, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman praised Egypt’s steadfast nationalist positions towards supporting its brothers and Egypt’s sincere mediation efforts to launch a direct dialogue between the United States and Iran to reduce escalation, prevent the expansion and scope of the conflict, and work to contain it, in cooperation with Pakistan and Turkey.

The meeting discussed the negative repercussions of the ongoing war on the global economy and the countries of the region, and the measures taken by the sister State of Qatar to protect its security and secure energy facilities and the normal economic life cycle. The meeting also addressed the current challenges of the global economy as a result of the rise in energy and food prices and the impact of global supply chains.

The meeting witnessed a discussion of the mediation efforts undertaken by Egypt to reach a solution that leads to reducing the escalation. In this context, Minister Abdel Ati briefed his Qatari counterpart on the arrangements for the quadripartite ministerial meeting expected to be held tomorrow in Islamabad, with the participation of the foreign ministers of Turkey, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, to discuss developments in the military escalation and efforts to reduce tension in the region.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the two sides agreed to continue close coordination and consultation in order to preserve Arab national security, and to reach a diplomatic solution that would end the war and restore stability and security to the region.
