The Ministry of Endowments said that celebrating the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace represents an important opportunity to highlight the vital role of sport in building a balanced human being physically, psychologically and intellectually, as the concept of sport is no longer limited to competition or entertainment, but rather has become one of the effective tools in promoting the values of discipline, teamwork, acceptance of others, and consolidating a culture of societal peace.
The Ministry explained in a statement that Islam was concerned with building the human being in an integrated manner that combines the strength of faith and the strength of the body, as it called for everything that helps a person perform his mission in life efficiently and competently, which is evident in the saying of our Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: A strong believer is better and more beloved to God than a weak believer, which confirms that strength in its comprehensive meaning is a positive value if it is directed to serving the individual and society.
The Ministry of Endowments indicated that the Egyptian state pays great attention to supporting sporting activities and expanding the base of practice, believing in its role in protecting young people from destructive ideas, investing their energies in what benefits them and their country, and consolidating the spirit of fair competition based on ethics and respect, which contributes to building conscious generations capable of giving.
The Ministry also stressed that sport represents a common human language that transcends differences, opens spaces for rapprochement between peoples, and promotes concepts of peaceful coexistence, which makes it an important tool in supporting sustainable development efforts, spreading a culture of peace, and confronting manifestations of violence and intolerance.
The Ministry of Endowments called for establishing the culture of practicing sports as a way of life, because of its positive effects in improving public health, raising work efficiency, and enhancing psychological balance, in addition to its role in instilling moral values such as commitment, respect for rules, and bearing responsibility.
In this context, the Ministry stressed the importance of directing sports energies in a positive manner that consolidates national and human values, and makes stadiums arenas for building morals before winning championships, and platforms for strengthening the spirit of belonging before achieving victories.
