Red meat markets in Egypt witnessed a state of relative stability in prices at the beginning of trading today, Thursday, March 12, 2026, supported by an increase in the supply of local production, in light of the livestock development projects implemented by the state in recent years.

Meat prices today

The Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation announced the sale of fresh local meat through its outlets at prices ranging between 350 and 420 pounds per kilo, depending on the region, while the price of local filto rice was about 430 pounds per kilo.

The prices of local lamb meat ranged between 350 and 400 pounds per kilo, while the price of camel meat settled between 300 and 350 pounds per kilo, according to the prices announced by the Butchers Division.

A number of merchants explained that the price of local liver was about 350 pounds per kilo, while the price of Hilla kebab in some outlets was about 350 pounds per kilo. Rice kofta was also offered at a price of approximately 200 pounds per kilo, and Sikh kofta was sold at about 220 pounds.

In government sales outlets, the price of local minced meat in Aman outlets was about 280 pounds per kilo, while the price in the outlets of the Egyptian Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade reached about 320 pounds per kilo for kunduz and 350 pounds for lamb.

As for major commercial chains and supermarkets, the prices of some cuts, such as scallops, quail, chicken thighs, and entrecote, stabilized at about 420 pounds per kilogram, while meat cubes were offered at a price of approximately 345 pounds per kilogram.

In terms of specialized meat, traders indicated that the price of minced camel meat reached about 400 pounds per kilo, while camel liver reached about 500 pounds per kilo, while the price of goat meat reached about 450 pounds per kilo.

On the other hand, imported meat is available at relatively lower prices, with prices starting at about 250 pounds per kilo, while frozen meat cubes reached about 300 pounds.

The prices of Brazilian liver ranged between 150 and 180 pounds per kilo, and frozen sausage ranged between 150 and 160 pounds, while the price of Australian veal recorded about 250 pounds per kilo, which allows multiple alternatives to suit different income levels.

As for the prices of live livestock, traders explained that the price of a kilo of standing buffalo ranged between 160 and 165 pounds, while the live kunduz recorded about 175 pounds per kilo, while the price of live sheep reached approximately 250 pounds per kilo.
