Meat markets, whether in sales outlets or various butcher shops, recorded a state of remarkable stability during trading today, Sunday, March 22, which coincides with the third day of Eid al-Fitr, where a tone of calm prevailed in prices, with slight variations recorded related to the type of piece and according to the geographical scope of the sale.

Meat prices today

During a tour of duty-free shops, the average price of a kilo of large kunduz meat stabilized at about 388 pounds, while small kunduz meat reached 406 pounds, while veal meat stabilized at 446 pounds, lamb at 442 pounds, and camel at 390 pounds per kilo.

The prices of local liver in the markets ranged between 370 and 420 pounds, and local minced meat ranged between 330 and 470 pounds, while filto was recorded at 430 pounds, local sausage was 355 pounds, and burgers were 310 pounds per kilogram. These levels reflect the ongoing price stability since mid-March.

In exchange for free market prices, government outlets continue their role in regulating the rhythm and offering alternatives at reduced prices to ease the burden on citizens during the Eid period, as the Ministry of Agriculture outlets offered kunduz and lamb at a price of 350 pounds per kilo, while providing fresh local meat at a price of 280 pounds, minced meat at a price of 230 pounds, liver at a price of 250 pounds, and sausage at a price of 225 pounds.

Wataniya outlets also increased their supply at competitive prices, reaching 280 pounds for beef, 300 pounds for a piece of lamb, and 295 pounds for a banana, while beef and steak reached 325 pounds, and filo pastry reached 350 pounds, and the prices of fresh liver ranged between 300 and 350 pounds.

This noticeable price discrepancy between government outlets and private markets is due to logistical factors, transportation costs, and different sources of supply, which gives consumers great flexibility in choosing in accordance with their purchasing capabilities during the days of celebrating Eid.
