Today, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, began an inspection tour in the Suez Governorate, including the Sumed Petroleum Port in Ain Sokhna. To follow up on the procedures for the gasification process of ships loaded with liquefied gas shipments at the sea dock, as well as inspect the Ataka silo station for storing wheat in the governorate.
The Prime Minister is accompanied at the Sumed Petroleum Port by Engineer Karim Badawy, Minister of Petroleum, Wealth and Minerals, while at the Ataqa Silo Station he is accompanied by Dr. Sherif Farouk, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, in the presence of Major General Hani Rashad, Governor of Suez, on today’s tour.
The Prime Minister confirmed that his tour today in the Suez Governorate comes within the framework of checking on the progress of work at the ship gasification unit at the sea dock of the Sumed Petroleum Port, as well as inspecting the procedures for storing different types of wheat in the Ataqa silo. This is to enhance the readiness to secure the country’s supply of the quantities of gas necessary for the electricity sector to deal with any developments, especially in light of the ongoing war in the region, and the negative economic repercussions that result from it, especially the prices of petroleum products, as well as enhancing the strategic stock of basic food commodities, within the framework of advance planning to preserve the state’s reserves of them, and ways to confront the challenges facing food security as a result of the current regional events.
Dr. Mostafa Madbouly explained that there are specific directives in this regard from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, on the importance of committing to maintaining safe strategic stocks of petroleum products for various uses, to secure the necessary gas supplies for the electricity sector in the required quantities, whether for the uses of citizens or the needs of productive sectors, and to provide the necessary financing and financial credits to complete projects in the energy sector, considering energy security one of the basic pillars of national security, and at the same time the necessity of maintaining the continuity of the strategic stock of goods and enhancing it.
