French President Emmanuel Macron announced today, Sunday, that he had a call with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, during which he discussed a number of regional issues.

Macron stressed the need for Iran to immediately stop any strikes targeting countries in the region, while emphasizing the importance of ensuring freedom of navigation and ending what he described as the effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
Macron explained, through a statement on his account on X, that he stressed during the conversation that the security and return of French citizens Cécile Koehler and Jacques Paris to France represents a top priority for his country.
The French President renewed his concern about the development of the Iranian nuclear and ballistic programs, in addition to the activities that he considered destabilizing the region, stressing that the diplomatic solution remains the best way to contain escalation and achieve peace, noting that it was agreed to continue communication between the two sides.
