The Directorate of Agriculture in Ismailia Governorate, headed by Dr. Alaa Mohamed Halawa, Undersecretary of the Ministry, continued to carry out a field visit to follow the demonstration fields for the barley crop in Qantara Sharq as part of an integrated plan to raise awareness among farmers and improve productivity.

This came in implementation of the directives of Major General Pilot A.H. Akram Muhammad Jalal, Governor of Ismailia, regarding supporting the agricultural sector and following up on strategic crops.

During the visit, the general condition of the demonstration fields for the barley crop was monitored, as Dr. Maysa Saeed, from the Field Crops Research Institute, explained that the barley crop has become one of the supporting crops for the wheat crop, noting that new bare-skinned varieties with high nutritional value have been developed, which has contributed to increasing their demand in the local market, especially among those who follow healthy diets, in addition to proving that these varieties are of high quality and suitable for the lands of Ismailia Governorate.

She stressed that the extension fields represent one of the effective tools for conveying modern technical recommendations to farmers, pointing out that the Ministry of Agriculture provides integrated support for these fields, which includes providing free seeds and distributing a share of nitrogen fertilizers, in addition to providing technical and extension support through the research and extension team of the Agricultural Extension Department.
