Health reveals the symptoms of vernal ophthalmia in children

The Ministry explained that spring ophthalmia is mainly linked to the increase in dust in the air and the spread of pollen, which leads to irritation of the conjunctiva and the occurrence of an allergic response in children.

She added that the symptoms of vernal ophthalmia in children include a burning sensation in the eyes, increased tear production, redness of the eyes, in addition to constant itching, as well as sticky or rubbery mucous secretions.

The Ministry of Health and Population stressed the need to immediately go to an ophthalmologist if you notice these symptoms in a child, to obtain an accurate diagnosis and receive appropriate treatment, which contributes to reducing complications and maintaining eye health.

Earlier, the Ministry of Health and Population announced that 21 million 259 thousand and 93 citizens have been examined nationwide as part of the presidential initiative to examine and treat chronic diseases and early detection of kidney disease since its launch in September 2021 until now, confirming the state’s commitment to providing free preventive and therapeutic services to citizens.

Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the Ministry’s official spokesman, explained that the initiative is being implemented through 3,601 primary care units in all governorates, and targets citizens over the age of 40, as well as young people over the age of 18 who have a history of chronic diseases, ensuring early detection of diseases and providing high-quality health care without financial burdens.
