Representative Dr. Omar Al-Ghunaimi, a member of the Senate, warned of the continued worsening of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza StripHe stressed that what the residents there are witnessing is not merely the repercussions of a military conflict, but rather represents a deliberate humanitarian catastrophe that is escalating day after day as a result of the absence of any effective international action.
Al-Ghunaimi said, in a press statement today, that the Israeli occupation’s continued siege of the Gaza Strip and its launch of military operations and deprivation of the Palestinians of their most basic rights constitutes “a collective act of revenge that falls under crimes against humanity,” stressing that the world is witnessing one of the most severe humanitarian crises in the modern era while the international community is content with issuing statements without taking any real measures.
The senator added that the severe cold waves and heavy rainfall have increased the suffering of thousands of displaced families, as many live inside dilapidated tents that no longer provide the necessary protection, noting that the recent rains destroyed dozens of camps, leaving children and women without shelter, heating, or adequate food.
Omar Al-Ghunaimi stressed that Gaza is experiencing a new chapter of slow death, as the population suffers from the spread of diseases, a shortage of medicines, and the interruption of health services, while the occupation continues to target schools, hospitals, and relief stores, which increases the scale of the humanitarian disaster.
The Alexandria MP stressed that the silence of the international community encourages the occupation to continue its violations, calling on the United Nations and major powers to act immediately and take deterrent measures to ensure stopping the aggression and opening safe humanitarian corridors for the entry of urgent aid.
Dr. Omar Al-Ghunaimi praised the continued Egyptian role in supporting the Palestinian people, explaining that Cairo is making great efforts at the political and humanitarian levels, and is working to facilitate a ceasefire and provide aid to those affected.
He added that the Palestinian people are fighting a real battle for existence, and that protecting Gaza has become an urgent global humanitarian responsibility before the crisis worsens and turns into a disaster that threatens the lives of millions of innocent people.
