Cairo 24 learned that the administrative staff of the Egyptian national team participating in the Arab Cup received notification from FIFA approving the national team’s request to make a replacement in its roster.
FIFA agreed to include Marwan Hamdy in the Pharaohs’ list instead of Ahmed Atef, the Z club striker, who is expected to return to Cairo within hours after being excluded from the list and the camp.
The Egyptian national team excluded the player Ahmed Atef from training, after the player’s statements to Cairo 24 in which he revealed his dissatisfaction with the decision to exclude him from the national team’s roster and register Marwan Hamdy instead.
Ahmed Atef’s statements about his exclusion aroused the dissatisfaction of Helmy Tolan, the Egyptian national team coach, and the technical staff, especially since the player was informed before traveling from Egypt of the possibility of being excluded from the list according to any circumstances that may arise.
