Dr. Nima Abdel explained to Cairo 24 that this stock is used to provide urgent medical supplies to countries facing emergency conditions, noting that additional supplies have not yet been requested from the organization’s country office in Cairo, in relation to the ongoing developments in some countries of the region.

He pointed out that the organization’s office in Egypt continues to monitor health conditions in the region on an ongoing basis, in coordination with the regional office and the organization’s headquarters in Geneva, in order to evaluate developments and respond quickly to any emergency health needs.

The Director of the World Health Organization office in Egypt confirmed that the organization is ready to send experts and specialists in health emergencies to any country within the region if circumstances require it, to support local health systems and enhance their ability to confront crises.

He stressed that the health sector cannot be separated from the general context in which countries operate, explaining that political, economic and social conditions play a direct role in the ability of health systems to respond to increasing pressures during periods of crises.

He added that regional crises have a clear impact on health services, which requires continuous international coordination to ensure the continued provision of health care to the population in the affected areas.
