The head explained Chamber of Textile Industries He told Cairo 24 that these measures are considered internationally recognized trade policy tools, noting that other countries, led by Turkey, are implementing similar policies, as they imposed dumping duties on some Egyptian products in the textile sector, including sewing threads, after they faced strong competition from the Egyptian product within their local market.

He added that the Turkish government had also previously taken protective measures on a number of Chinese textile products, within the framework of protecting its local industries, which reflects that the application of anti-dumping duties represents a legitimate mechanism to maintain market balance.
The head of the Chamber of Textile Industries indicated that the decision is in the interest of the Egyptian industry, by supporting the continuity of local factories and maintaining employment rates, but at the same time he stressed the need for this not to lead to any monopolistic practices or exploitation of the consumer.
He explained that the imposition of protection fees must be linked to the presence of unfair support from exporting countries, which harms the local industry, stressing that the relevant authorities in Egypt are studying each case separately, in terms of the impact of the imported product on its local counterpart in terms of price and quality, in a way that ensures achieving a balance between protecting the national product and preserving consumer rights.
