A new study reveals that bananas contain two types of fiber, soluble and insoluble, both of which play an important role in improving bowel movement.
Benefits of constipation for the body
According to what was published by the Health and Me website, data shows that eating one banana daily may support the health of the digestive system, as it provides only about 10% of the daily need for fiber, which makes it a beneficial addition without causing negative effects for most people.
Soluble fiber forms a gelatinous substance inside the intestine, which helps soften the stool, while insoluble fiber contributes to increasing its volume and accelerating its passage, which makes bananas useful in cases of constipation.
This fiber also feeds beneficial bacteria in the intestines, which supports the balance of the microbiome and improves digestion in general.
But the effect is not always consistent, as results indicate that eating bananas excessively, or relying on them excessively, may lead to adverse results such as bloating or digestive disorders.
