French press reports revealed that Colombian star James Rodriguez suffered a sudden health illness shortly before the start of preparations for… World Cup 2026.
The French newspaper RMC said that he was taken to hospital due to dehydration, and is recovering at home.
It confirmed that the player suffered from severe dehydration, likely linked to gastroenteritis, after participating in the friendly match that his country lost to France 3-1.
The newspaper indicated that the Colombian national team captain spent several days in the hospital before he was allowed to leave, after his health condition gradually improved.
It was reported that the player has not participated in any match since that incident, and also missed his team, Minnesota United, against Los Angeles Galaxy in the American League.
She explained that his health condition caused concern within the Colombian national team camp, especially with the start of the 2026 World Cup approaching.
