Major General Amr Al-Gharib received governor Menoufia A detailed report from the governorate’s Directorate of Agriculture on efforts to support the agricultural sector and develop services provided to farmers, which included the results of the work of clearing private waterways, agricultural licensing procedures, and field visits to crops.

Mohamed Ajour, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture in Menoufia, explained that a lengthy distance of 455 kilometers and 290 meters of private waterways was disinfected using the cooperative and self-disinfection systems, which contributes to improving the service of 31,879 agricultural acres, during the period from the beginning of July 2025 until the end of February 2026.
He stressed that the disinfection results have been completely removed with continuous follow-up of disinfection work in the various centers, cities and villages of the governorate, with the waste being transferred on an ongoing basis to preserve waterways, reduce the loss of water resources and rationalize their use.
This comes in implementation of the directives of the Governor of Menoufia to develop an integrated plan to disinfect canals, waterways and private waterways in various parts of the governorate, with the aim of reducing water loss, preserving the environment and preventing the spread of diseases and viruses, in a way that supports the public health of citizens and enhances the efficiency of use of water resources.
Regarding the licensing file, the report indicated approval to issue 161 operating licenses for various agricultural projects during the year 2026, which included poultry and livestock farms, apiaries, dairy collection centers, feed stores, and factories related to the agricultural sector, in a way that enhances agricultural investment and provides new job opportunities.
It was also approved to issue 22 operating licenses for a number of projects, in addition to carrying out 14 field inspections of livestock and poultry farms and an apiary, in preparation for completing licensing procedures in accordance with the regulatory controls.
As part of the field follow-up of horticultural crops, the Agriculture Directorate teams carried out a field visit to a thousand acres of vegetable and fruit areas to monitor agricultural pests and provide technical recommendations to farmers. Also, 187 acres of citrus fruits and 458 acres of vegetables were treated within one week, in a step aimed at maintaining the quality of agricultural production and supporting farmers in facing various agricultural challenges.
