Tensions in Minnesota
According to The Guardian, the federal agency’s operations in Minnesota continued amid ongoing protests.
In the context of these operations, agents of Immigration and Customs Enforcement carried out raids in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on January 6, 2026 as part of the implementation of Trump’s immigration policy.
Agency agents also temporarily suspended a legal observer during one of these raids, as part of the procedures carried out by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Department in the state.
Tensions in Minnesota began on January 7, when Renee Nicole Judd, a 37-year-old US citizen, was shot by a US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer in Minneapolis, Minnesota, during an escalating federal immigration enforcement operation in the state.
Renee Goode was standing in her vehicle on a residential street when the federal officer approached her and shot her several times, hitting the head area, one of which was fatal, resulting in her death at the scene.
The circulating videos showed the incident from the officer’s angle, and he opened fire while Judd was trying to move her car away from the crowd of ICE officers who were surrounding her car.
This incident sparked widespread anger and condemnation within the United States, led to widespread protests in Minneapolis and other states, and demands for independent investigations and the accountability of the responsible officer.
