The El Gouna Film Festival administration announced the appointment of Andrew Mohsen as artistic director of the festival, in a move that represents the beginning of a new and distinguished phase in his artistic career.

Andrew Mohsen is considered one of the most prominent film critics and programmers in the artistic scene, as he previously served as head of the festival’s programming department, and his experiences in a number of regional and international festivals contributed to the formation of a unique cinematic vision.

Earlier, the El Gouna Film Festival announced the opening of applications for the ninth session of “CineGouna to Support Film Production” from October 16 to 22, 2026 as part of the festival’s activities scheduled to be held from October 15 to 23 in the city of El Gouna, so that the deadline for submitting projects in the development phase will be June 30, 2026, and the deadline for post-production projects will be July 15, 2026.

Applications for feature-length narrative and documentary film projects in the development and post-production stages are accepted to participate in the program from all over the Arab world.

The filmmakers who will be selected will participate in Cine Gouna’s activities to support film production over the course of a week, which includes specialized technical advice and feedback sessions, networking opportunities, in addition to a group of financial and professional awards, through partnerships with local, regional and international institutions, with a total value exceeding $300,000, presented annually during the Cine Gouna platform awards ceremony.

The Cine Gouna Film Production Support jury consists of international directors, producers and filmmakers, who will be announced later.
