Engineer Walid Abdel Mohsen, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture in Sohag, confirmed that protecting the agricultural land is at the top of the priorities of the Governorate’s Agriculture Directorate, in implementation of the directives of the political leadership on the necessity of resolutely confronting any encroachments on agricultural lands, as it is a fundamental pillar of food security in Egypt.
Preserving the agricultural area in Sohag
He explained that the directorate has raised the level of maximum preparedness, with the intensification of the work of the land protection committees and their field deployment in various centers, especially during vacation periods and holidays that may witness attempts to encroach on agricultural lands.
The Undersecretary indicated that the Directorate is implementing a strict monitoring plan to preserve the agricultural area, through periodic visits to agricultural lands and monitoring ponds on the ground to monitor any violations in their infancy.
Continuous follow-up campaigns to take immediate removal measures
He added that land protection engineers in agricultural departments are carrying out continuous follow-up campaigns, taking immediate removal measures for any encroachment that is detected, to ensure the preservation of agricultural lands and prevent their depletion.
He also explained that crisis and emergency rooms have been activated in the directorate’s general office and all agricultural departments in the centers, to receive reports and complaints from citizens regarding any possible encroachments on agricultural lands, as follow-up teams work 24 hours a day to monitor violations and deal with them immediately.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture in Sohag stressed that efforts to protect agricultural lands are being carried out in full coordination with the governorate’s general office and concerned authorities, to ensure the speedy implementation of removal decisions and decisive dealing with violators, stressing the importance of citizens’ cooperation and reporting any infringements to preserve agricultural wealth in the governorate.
