Dr. Tamer Shawky, an educational expert and professor of curricula at Ain Shams University, criticized the decision to postpone the March exams until March 29, that is, after the Eid al-Fitr holiday, stressing that this decision is not considered educationally and psychologically appropriate for students and teachers.
Shawqi explained in his post that this postponement may lead to a clear imbalance in the semester’s time map, which will negatively reflect on the regularity of the educational process and the ability of students to comprehend the curriculum in balanced periods of time. He added that extending the period between the beginning of the second semester and holding the March exams to about 49 days is illogical, especially since the appropriate natural period for holding this type of assessment is shorter to ensure accurate measurement of achievement.
He pointed out that the decision may cause a state of psychological stress among students, as a result of the overcrowding of exams and school assignments during the month of April, which will also affect teachers, who will face additional pressure in correction and follow-up within a short period of time.
March 2026 exams postponed
The educational expert stressed that the March exams are monthly exams for transfer classes, and do not have a direct impact on the students’ future, which required greater flexibility in dealing with them, without the need to postpone them.
Shawqi suggested that it would be more appropriate to advance the date of the exams before the Eid holiday, starting in mid-March, especially since the second semester began on February 8, which would have provided an appropriate period of time of approximately 35 days before the exams were held.
He also pointed out that postponing the March exams would lead to an illogical rapprochement between them and the April exams, as the period between them will not exceed only about 20 days, which represents approximately half of the supposed time period, even though both exams fall within the monthly assessments for transfer classes.
Shawqi concluded by emphasizing that temporal and educational considerations must be strongly present in such decisions, noting that in previous years, high school exams were held during the holidays without the need for postponement, which reflects the possibility of managing exam schedules more flexibly without affecting the course of the educational process.
