Colombian Oscar Ruiz, head of the main referees committee of the Football Association, was able to leave Qatar during the past hours and return to Egypt after a period during which he remained stuck inside Qatar due to the suspension of flights to and from Doha against the backdrop of the Iranian war.
Cairo 24 learned that Oscar arrived hours ago in Cairo and will begin from today to return to direct supervision of the main referees committee of the Football Association, after he had throughout the past period to monitor the progress of work within the committee remotely through periodic Zoom meetings that he was sitting with members of the referees committee.
Colombian Oscar Ruiz traveled to Qatar late last month to participate as part of a team of FIFA lecturers in supervising the camp of referees nominated to participate in the 2026 World Cup.
After the end of the camp, Oscar was unable to return to Cairo, as war broke out between the United States and Israel on one side and Iran on the other, causing the suspension of flights to and from Qatar, so Oscar Ruiz remained stuck there in Qatar from the beginning of the crisis until a few hours ago before he was able to leave Qatar and return to Cairo again.
