Helwan National University removes the leaflet warning against feeding stray dogs on campus
In exclusive statements to Cairo 24, the source explained that the post had already been removed yesterday, noting that the dogs inside the university campus were feeding on leftover food thrown in some places, which was causing unpleasant odors, and they also sometimes caused harm to students.
In its circulated circular, the university explained that it had contacted the Veterinary Medicine Department in Helwan City to contribute to dealing with the phenomenon, especially after noticing an increase in the aggression of some animals towards students on campus, saying: Due to the growing number of stray dogs on the university campus, and the danger of this phenomenon to students, faculty members and workers, the administration, for its part, contacted the Veterinary Medicine Department in Helwan City to contribute to overcoming this phenomenon, especially after noticing the increase in the aggression and ferocity of some of these animals towards students.
The administration confirmed that it is taking legal measures to contract with a specialized company to deal with the problem, in accordance with the directives and instructions issued by the competent official authorities.
The university called on everyone to refrain from indiscriminately feeding animals inside the campus and in front of college buildings, as it causes an increase in their numbers, environmental pollution, and the possibility of the spread of diseases, noting that the Administrative Security Department will follow up on the implementation of instructions and take the necessary measures in the event of a violation, saying: “Until the procedures for dealing with and resolving this problem, which has become a great danger, are completed, the administration alerts everyone, faculty members, students, and workers, to the necessity of refraining from indiscriminate feeding of these animals inside the university campus and in front of college buildings, which contributes to the exacerbation of this phenomenon and its growth.” The numbers of these animals lead to environmental pollution and the spread of diseases.
She explained that the university’s Administrative Security Department will follow up on this matter, and in the event of a violation, the necessary measures will be taken in this regard, as everyone is requested to contribute to implementing this alert.
